Best Podcasts

I listen and watch many of the podcasts available from the iTunes store and find them equivalent to reading a 500 page book and learning from a tenured professor at University. These are some of my favorite podcasts.

For the Chinese Manndarin learner (Audio)

ChinesePod If you do a search for Chinese Mandarin podcasts on the iTunes store, you will see why ChinesePod is highly rated; Quality audio, content for all levels of chinese learners, there is also a companion transcript embedded in the podcast information. Highly recommend if you want to brush up on your Chinese Mandarin

For Photoshop Users (Video)

DekePod I find most Photoshop books and videos really boring in their approach to teaching Photoshop, but something about the DekePod Video podcast series makes learning about Photoshop tools and tips fun and easy. Deke's videos are about 6 minutes long, but he packs so much information in one podcast episode. Deke is also the author of O'Reilly Published books on Photoshop and the host of Lynda.com tutorials on Photoshop and Illustrator. This podcast is updated about once a month.

For Aspiring Cooks

Stump the Chef Only 24 episodes for this short lived podcast on cooking, high quality video and really shows you what not to do during cooking and what is safe in terms of ingredients.

For Webmsaters (Video)

YUI Theater covers a wide range of topics such as web accessibility, website performance optimization, ajax, and of course, the YUI Framework in full video. This podcast seems to be updated every quarter or so, and as of this writing the latest video was released on 12/21/08.

For New Yorkers (Audio)

WNYC's Brian Lehrer Show The New York Yankees, the New York Government, and who could forget, New York City Transit system for public transportation, this NYC-based podcast covers topics that are of interest to the average New Yorker. Great thing about this podcast is its brevity per topic; This one is updated daily after the show is broadcast live from 10am-12pm (Eastern Standard Time)

For the Folkie (Audio)

A Prairie Home Companion I am really into folk and country music and like when this show comes on NPR. Much better than the usual news stories that populate NPR's airwaves, A Prairie Home Companion blends commentary with comedy and good ol' music. I higly recommend this for weekend listening when you have two hours to spare
